About Butler's Equestrian Team
The Butler University Equestrian Team(BUET) is a recognized club sport at Butler University.  The team consists of members of all riding abilities in both the hunt seat and western disciplines.  BUET is a great opportunity for students to continue riding and improve their riding ability while attending Butler University.

Team members who are interested, have the opportunity to show.  BUET competes against local colleges through the IHSA in Region 7, Zone 1.  The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association(IHSA) is the governing body for the shows BUET participates in.  There are about 5 shows a semester that BUET members show in to gather points towards qualifying for Regionals, which are held at the end of the spring semester.  From Regionals, riders can then move on to Zones, and then to Nationals, which gathers the top riders(all levels) from each Zone to compete for a national title.

BUET practices at two separate barns, both situtated about 30 minutes north of campus.  The hunt seat riders are coached by Amy Tilson at Sierra Woods Farm which is located in Zionsville, Indiana.  The western riders are coached by Julie Hudson at Carmel Equestrian Center which is located in Carmel, Indiana.  Practice frequecy is based on the team member's availability and how often they would like to ride.  The minimum number of lessons required is 1x/month, in order to be considered an active member of BUET.  Most riders take lessons more often, many ride every week.
